The Crop History Consortium brings together archaeological, archaeobotanical, genetic, and textual approaches to the history of cultivated
פרטי אירוע
The Crop History Consortium brings together archaeological, archaeobotanical, genetic, and textual approaches to the history of cultivated plants. The forthcoming webinar is devoted to flax/linen, considered both as a crop and as a material embedded in ancient economic and social practices. It should therefore be of interest beyond archaeobotany proper, particularly to those working with documentary evidence for agriculture, production, and material culture.
The programme combines Adrian Brennan on the genetic history of flax, Sabine Karg on the role of flax in prehistoric societies, and Mila Neishtadt on flax in the Gezer Inscription, thus also bringing textual evidence directly into the discussion.
